Best Multi-Camera Systems for Cars
Multi-camera systems give you front, rear and side views — even a stitched 360° bird’s-eye composite — for parking, off-roading and big rigs. Here are my tested picks, from a full four-camera kit to an all-in-one mirror system and a switch for building your own.
Who this guide is for
Adding front, rear and side views can completely change how an older vehicle drives in tight spaces. Multi-camera systems are for drivers who want true situational awareness — a 360° bird’s-eye view for parking and off-road, a front/rear/cabin setup, or a switch to build a custom rig. They take more wiring and calibration than a single camera, but the payoff is huge in garages, on trails and around big rigs. New to multi-cam wiring? Start with my camera install guide.

How we test multi-camera systems
These take real install time, so I judge them on the things that matter once they’re wired in:
How well the system blends front/rear/side feeds into a usable composite, and how clean the directional and bird’s-eye views look.
Wiring complexity, the control box and calibration process, and how many extra parts a typical vehicle needs.
Monitor quality and how easily you can switch views — manually, with turn signals, or automatically in reverse.
IP-rated camera housings and connectors that survive winter, salt, car washes and rain.
Questions that decide your system
- Do you want a true 360° view? For a stitched bird’s-eye composite, the Weivision four-camera kit is the move. If you mainly want front/rear/cabin views, the Pormido mirror is simpler.
- Buying a kit or building your own? A kit (Weivision, Pormido) includes matched cameras and a control box. The BOYO switch lets you pick your own cameras and wire them to a monitor or head unit.
- How big is your vehicle? The Weivision is recommended for vehicles under ~20 ft. Longer rigs may need extension harnesses or a different long-range platform.
My top multi-camera systems
Weivision BDV001
Four-camera 360° system

Why I picked it
The Weivision kit gives you front/rear + left/right cameras and a control box that stitches views into a bird’s-eye composite after calibration. It can also trigger side views with turn signals and loop-record with a G-sensor. Expect more wiring and calibration time than a single-camera setup, but the all-around situational awareness is a big upgrade for tight garages, off-road crawling, or city parking.| Brand | Weivision |
| Model | BDV001 |
| Connection | Wired |
| Cameras | 4 (360° stitched) |
| Display | Monitor included |
| Resolution | 720p |
| Viewing Angle | 360° composite |
| Weatherproof | IP69K |
Reasons to buy
- True bird’s-eye composite—awesome for parking & off-road
- Side-camera turn-signal triggers add daily usability
Reasons not to buy
- Significantly more wiring/calibration than single-camera kits
- Left/right cameras require drilling on most vehicles
Pormido Dash and Reverse Camera
3-camera mirror system w/ Sony STARVIS

Why I picked it
At some point, you may have wondered why a dual camera dash cam system can’t be used for a parking camera. Usually, it’s due to the fact the rear camera is mounted in the rear window for a dash cam system, which limits the use as a backup camera. This package solves the image by combining a two-channel dash camera with a reverse camera, and displaying all three images simultaneously on a 12-inch mirror monitor. This system is designed to provide you a front, rear, and inside view of your car, perfect for monitoring back seat activity. The monitor gives 1080P resolution and is a touchscreen device so you can easily switch between views. A Sony STARVIS sensor provides excellent HD-quality video from all three cameras. You can also use this system for monitoring your car while parked. It even includes an SD card to get you started and a remote GPS antenna so you can get driving info on-screen.
| Brand | Pormido |

| Cameras | 3 (front/rear/cabin) |
| Display | 12″ mirror monitor |
| Resolution | 1080p |
| Sensor | Sony STARVIS CMOS |
| Storage | 32GB SD + GPS antenna incl. |
Reasons to buy
- Fantastic all-in-one package
- Excellent image quality during daytime use
- Tons of features normally reserved for dash cam packages
Reasons not to buy
- Mirror monitor is on the larger side and may obstruct forward vision
BOYO VTSW4
4-camera switch box (cameras not included)
Buy-now clicks support our testing. This doesn't affect our picks.
Why I picked it
One limitation of many multi-camera systems is that you are limited to using the included cameras, which often are not that great. This affordable switch will let you select the cameras you want to use and wire them all to a monitor or aftermarket head unit easily. This is the ultimate tool for building your own custom multi-camera system. The switch is NTSC/PAL/SeCam compliant, so it’ll work with just about any camera or monitor on the market. Installing this system makes it easy to trigger individual cameras but won’t feed video from different cameras simultaneously. Note that this switch does not come with cameras or monitors. You will need to buy those separately.
| Brand | BOYO |
| Model | VTSW4 |
| Cameras | Up to 4 (not included) |
| Display | Not included |
| Type | Video switch box |
| Video Standard | NTSC / PAL / SECAM |
| Power | 12 V |
Reasons to buy
- Easy to set up and use
- Affordable price
- Universal
Reasons not to buy
- Individual triggering capability only, can’t view multiple cameras simultaneously
- Requires additional components to work with turn signal-operated cameras
Wire your multi-camera system in the right way
Multi-camera systems mean more wiring, a control box and calibration — and often drilling for side cameras. My install guide covers power, grounds, triggers and routing so you can plan the job before you start.

Multi-camera system questions, answered
Do I really need a multi-camera system?+
Only if you want front and side awareness for tight garages, off-roading or city parking. A single rear camera covers the legal backup view; a multi-camera kit adds a stitched bird’s-eye composite but takes significantly more wiring and calibration.
How hard are these to install?+
Harder than a single camera. Expect a control box, more wiring, a calibration step, and drilling to mount side cameras on most vehicles. Budget extra time, or have a shop handle the side cameras.
Will these work with my head unit?+
Kits like the Weivision and Pormido include their own monitor. If you’d rather feed an aftermarket touchscreen, a switch like the BOYO VTSW4 lets you route multiple cameras to one display.
What size vehicle do these suit?+
The Weivision is rated for vehicles under about 20 feet. For longer trucks, trailers and RVs, look at a purpose-built long-range system instead.
