The JL Audio Evolution C3-650 convertible 6.5″ component speaker system includes woofers with injection-molded polymer frames, mineral filled polypropylene cones, rubber surrounds, ferrite magnets, and 1″ voice coils with Kapton formers. In the center of each cone is a phase plug; the phase plug can be removed and the tweeter mounted in its place to create a coaxial speaker.

What's unique about this pair of speakers is that they're hybrids. You can mount them as either a coaxial speaker with the tweeter within the speakers. Or, you can dismount the tweeters and mount them separately like a component speaker. Their woofer cone materials are excellent for efficient operation. The C3-650 cones are made from Polypropylene and produce exceptional sound. The Polymer basket make it sturdy against various changes in temperature and stress. Poly refers to polypropylene, which is thermoplastic or fibers that are polymers of propylene. IMPP refers to injection molded polypropylene, a commonly used process and material in speakers.
